Jeff Howells
Partner, The Penarth Group, LLC
With experience serving as General Manager of a leading cash management supplier, Jeff Howells brings
an executive perspective to Penarth projects. Jeff directed Automatic Data Processing’s Financial Services
division. His detailed knowledge of product development, project management, open systems, and
customer support provide a depth of operational experience managing a $70 million business unit.
Currently Jeff assists global financial services firms with payment and remittance initiatives.
Prior to the founding of the Penarth Group, Jeff held a variety of executive positions with ADP. Besides
running their Financial Services unit, Jeff was responsible for building the product delivery and service
infrastructure for their ESD Division. Additional responsibilities included managing several web
development teams, call center P & L, and technical due diligence for merger and acquisition activities.
Jeff’s forte is applying leading edge technology to the delivery commercial banking products and financial
services solutions. He was instrumental in creating the industry’s first and leading small business cash
management product, Business Express. Market vision combined with an acute sense of what is possible
help Jeff guide new applications to market.
Prior to his work with ADP, Jeff served in a variety of technical and development roles for Unisys. He
worked with their treasury and cash forecasting systems, managed off-shore development efforts, and built
out their international payment capabilities.
Jeff holds a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University and an undergraduate degree on
Physics and Chemistry from the University of Wales.
Tom Lynn
Partner, The Penarth Group, LLC
With over 19 years experience in the financial services industry, Tom Lynn brings a broad banking
background and international perspective to the clients that utilize Penarth’s services. As a senior partner
and founder of the Penarth Group, Tom excels at brokering relationships between global financial
institutions and leading technology vendors. Recently Tom was responsible for national sales of Aleri
Corporation’s Liquidity Management System. He marketed this technology through banks to their
multinational customers—helping them optimize their liquidity and cash positions.
Prior to his work with Aleri, Tom established the financial services vertical market for Payformance, a
leading provider of Business-to-Business electronic payment solutions. Tom built a high performing sales
team from the ground up, creating a $4 million pipeline in six months, with a recurring revenue stream of $2
billion annualized.
Tom has significant expertise in managing sales professionals, responding to Request for Proposals, and
closing substantial, complex deals. He understands what it takes to sell into large, global banks and has
established many international contacts through successful execution of past sales and marketing
engagements.
Prior to founding Penarth, Tom held sales and marketing executive positions at Princeton eCom, Global
Payment Systems (National Data Corporation), Automatic Data Processing, and Ameritech. Tom started his
career as a banker, at First Chicago Corporation (Chase).
Tom understands sales negotiations from both the banker and vendor perspectives. He has helped bring
to market solutions in cash management, electronic payments, eBanking, bill payment, and asset
management. Tom excels and creating winning fee income strategies within the commercial cost centers of
global financial institutions.
Tom is a member of the NACHA Payments Council, Association of Financial Professionals, and Treasury
Management Association of Canada. Tom attended Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.
